Refractory products are used in all the world’s high-temperature industrial processes. Without them, the steel, cement, lime, non-ferrous metals, glass, energy, environment and chemical industries couldn’t exist.
Refractories defy the most hostile conditions to stay strong and stable at temperatures of 1200 °C and much, much higher. To contain materials safely while they’re burned, melted, blasted, fired, fused, and shaped. And to protect equipment such as furnaces and kilns against thermal, mechanical and chemical stress.
Our job is to provide answers to these extreme challenges. To tailor the best solutions for our customers we make over 120,000 products. These range from bricks and lining mixes to flow control products such as slide gates, nozzles and plugs. Their service lives range from a few cycles within a day to as long as 10 years. The base materials we use to make them are magnesite and dolomite – remarkable materials which themselves require skillful handling: the melting point of fused magnesia is above 2800 °C.


Since the company’s establishment in 1973, MAPEKO has developed into a leading manufacturer of industrial heaters and offers pioneering solutions to steel plants and foundries. To date, more than 1500 MAPEKO-systems with different tasks and designs are in operation worldwide.

Dürr AG is a global mechanical and plant engineering firm. The company, founded by Paul Dürr (1871-1936) as a metal shop for roof flashing in Cannstatt in 1895, has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 4 January 1990. Tri-Mer Corporation, established in 1960, specializes in comprehensive air pollution control solutions. It is the world’s largest provider of catalytic ceramic filter systems.

Established in 1960 by Byrel Triggs and Charles Cramer as a manufacturing and fabrication shop. They merged their last names to create the Tri-Mercompany name. The initial focus was equipment fabrication using the new wonder materials of the time, PVC and polypropylene.
Tri-Mer pursued opportunities in the pollution control market with the rise of environmental concerns in the late 1960s.
Tri-Mer has become one of the leading air pollution control companies in the U.S. Its product line includes both dry and wet systems.
